Vision

The National Biomanufacturing Network is a coordinated, national network that spans the bioinnovation ecosystem from end to end, with support for non-profit, for-profit, and dual-use applications. The NBN unifies access to distributed biomanufacturing infrastructure across Canada, with mission-driven funding and shared objectives to meet national priorities.

Core Purpose

The purpose of the National Biomanufacturing Network Committee is to advise the SynBio Canada Board on the development of a coordinated national biomanufacturing ecosystem for Canada. The Committee will focus on advancing three interrelated pillars: (i) reagent development and distribution, including DNA, strains, cell lines, and synthetic DNA sequence screening; (ii) biofoundry capacity, including high-throughput design-build-test-learn infrastructure; and (iii) bioprocessing capacity, including pilot-scale and large-scale production. The Committee will support the integration of these pillars to accelerate the full bio-innovation cycle and strengthen biomanufacturing as a strategic national capability.
